John Paul Dombrowski
John-Paul Dombrowski is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Ohio. He received his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a concentration in trauma and crisis counseling from Franciscan University of Steubenville where he previously received his BA in Clinical Psychology with a minor in philosophy. John-Paul practices out of the relational model, meaning that he places a big emphasis on the meaningful relationships in our lives. In therapy he helps individuals to identify unhelpful patterns, where these patterns come from, and how we can change these patterns in the present moment. His therapy strikes a balance between seeking to change the things that we can, and learning to accept the things that we cannot change. Therapy with John-Paul is organic, and focuses on creating a climate of deep understanding and compassion. With an appreciation for the uniqueness of each person, he believes that we all make sense, and we can come to a better place in the present through emotional insight into our past. He focuses on cultivating simple practices that teach us practically how to stay in the present moment without getting swept away by our emotions. He also specializes in Prolonged Exposure therapy, the leading trauma treatment for PTSD. Outside of therapy, John-Paul enjoys camping with friends and family, all types of adventure, smoking cigars, and caring for his Bonsai trees.
